A rose is one of those strange flowers with thorns for its protection and often is the flower to give to a love one during courtship when people are still on their guard (thorns) despite being attracted (flower) . Some fear to touch flowers because of that but not sure since you have a break between the 2 stanzas. Sometimes thorns can prick hands and cause bleeding wounds. The moon a light in the evening, followed by the sun in the day, but no kiss all that time?
