Beckett has often been seen as a pessimistic writer, however, I always had my reservations. In th same way, through the apparent disposition of pessimism in the poem, it stands out as a yearning, a very optimistic and a positive one, to prevent the earth from crying.-Supratik Sen, Kolkata
